Why aren't my products updating?

If you use a Shopify integration to sync products to Candid, any new product information you create in Shopify will then also sync over to Candid. Under normal site traffic conditions, new product updates that you make in Shopify should sync over almost immediately to Candid. However, occasionally things can get backed up if there is a lot of site traffic coming from Shopify and you may need to manually push a sync in Candid to get things moving again.

How to manually resync your Shopify integration

To resync the Shopify integration, head to your Integrations page in your Candid account and click the Shopify "Resync Now" button. This should allow any new product information to then sync over to Candid but you may need to wait a few minutes and then refresh your browser to see the update.

What to do if new product info still isn't showing up

Something that is important to note is that if a product in Candid has already been published to a catalog collection, that product is essentially "frozen" at the moment you first published it. This prevents updates in Shopify from accidentally wiping out your Candid catalog structure and any edits you might have made to your products directly in Candid.

To clarify, Shopify product updates do sync over to published products in Candid, however those updates aren't displayed unless you choose to display them by resyncing the product directly. To resync a published product in Candid you will need to do the following:

  • From your Products page, select the product you would like to resync.
  • In the product editor choose which updates you would like to resync (see options below).

You can re-sync the product title:

You can also resync the product description:

And you can resync the product images:

Note that newer Shopify product images may show up at the bottom of the product editor screen and need to be moved to the published view manually. You can publish an image by clicking on the plus button seen in the example below:

You can then use the arrow buttons to arrange the images in the order you want them to appear. You can also unpublish any images you don't want in your catalog collections.

Note that under the Options tab of the product editor you can also publish and unpublish product variants as needed:

What if I deleted or archived products in Shopify?

Products that you delete or archive in Shopify will need to be manually unpublished and/or archived in Candid since that functionality is not part of the integration. In general, we don't automatically remove Candid products since sometimes a company will have products that they sell wholesale but not retail. As a rule of thumb, Candid tries not to assume how you want to manage your products, so the integration only makes the minimum updates necessary to manage your wholesale collections in Candid.

Does pricing update?

Only MSRP pricing syncs over from Shopify. Wholesale pricing must be managed directly in Candid. You can learn more about updating pricing here: How to update your wholesale pricing

What if a Squarespace integration isn't syncing?

The Squarespace integration generally has less site traffic than Shopify and is not as likely to stop syncing or get stuck in the queue. The Squarespace integration also syncs product information every 15 minutes, so product updates happen more regularly. If for any reason you notice issues with your Squarespace integration, please reach out to our support team and we can help troubleshoot the issue.
